Summer School 2020

Note: This email has been sent to student AND parent emails, please only submit ONE response per student!

 There are 2 choices available for SHS students.  Students are only allowed to enroll in ONE program for summer. All courses are online only, there will be no packet/bookwork offered this year due to physical distancing requirements.

 

Choice #1: Snowline Academy 

Summer School Changes:

  • Students will only be able to make up credits from previously failed courses or take classes for a grade bump (earned a “D”).          

  • The only exception is PE, which still may be taken in order to free up room in a student’s schedule next year.  

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will not have open labs this summer and will need to limit some course offerings.

  • Almost all courses are a-g and NCAA approved.

Summer School Dates:

  • June 22th through July 24th

  • The last day to digitally submit your enrollment form for summer school is June 1st. 

Loaner Devices

  • If you need to borrow a device for Snowline’s summer school program, you will need to do so no later than June 4th.  

  • Serrano students please contact candice_forbes@snowlineschools.com

Choice #2: Options for Youth

OFY General Info:

  • Students will be able to make up credits from previously failed courses, take classes for a grade bump (earned a “D”), or take a class to get ahead or make space for another class next year.  

  • OFY’s courses are not NCAA approved

  • Most courses are a-g approved (check with your counselor or guidance technician to be sure)

Summer School Changes:

  • Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Options For Youth has moved all course offerings to online only. Serrano cannot provide computers to students who are taking courses at OFY if they don’t already have one.          

Summer School Dates:

  • July 1st through August 12th

  • The last day to digitally submit your enrollment form for summer school is June 4th

  • Step 2: After your counselor verifies which courses you’d like to take, they will email you the next step.  Check your Snowline gmail for further instructions.

Escuela de Verano 2020

Nota: Este correo electrónico se envió a los correos electrónicos de los estudiantes Y los padres, por favor de enviar UNA sola respuesta por estudiante

 Hay 2 opciones disponibles para los estudiantes de SHS. Estudiantes solo pueden inscribirse en UN solo programa para el verano. Todos los cursos serán en linea solamente, no se les ofrecerán  paquetes ni trabajo de libro este año, debido a los requisitos de distanciamiento físico.

Opcion #1: Snowline Academy 

Cambios de Escuela de Verano:

  • Los estudiantes solamente podrán recuperar créditos de cursos que reprobaron previamente o tomar una clase para mejorar una calificación de D (conocido como “grade bump”).          

  • La única excepción es Educación Física, la cual todavía pueden tomar para poder abrir un espacio en su horario estudiantil para el próximo año escolar.

  • Debido a la pandemia Covid-19, no tendremos laboratorios de computación abiertos este verano y tendremos que limitar algunos cursos que se ofrecen.

  • Casi todos los cursos están aprobados en a-g y NCAA

Fechas de Escuela de Verano:

  • 22 de junio hasta 24 de julio     

  • El ultimo dia para poder enviar su forma de registración digitalmente para la escuela de verano es el 1 de junio.

Dispositivos Prestados

  • Si necesita pedir por prestado un dispositivo electrónico para el programa de escuela de verano de Snowline, tendrá que pedirlo antes del 4 de junio.

Opcion #2: Options for Youth

OFY Información General:

  • Estudiantes podrán recuperar créditos de cursos que reprobaron previamente, tomar clases para mejorar una calificación de D (conocido como “grade bump”), o tomar una clase para avanzar o hacer espacio en su horario estudiantil para el próximo año escolar. 

  • Los cursos de OFY no están aprobados en NCAA.

  • La mayoría de los cursos están aprobados en a-g (revisa con tu consejero/a o tecnica de orientacion para asegurarte).

Cambios de la Escuela de Verano:

  • Debido a la pandemia Covid-19, Options For Youth ha movido todos sus cursos que ofrecen en línea solamente. Serrano no puede proveer computadoras a los estudiantes que están tomando clases en OFY si no la tienen ya.          

Fechas de la Escuela de Verano:

  • 1 de julio hasta el 12 de agosto

Como empezar el proceso de registración para la Escuela de Verano Options for Youth (OFY):

  • Segundo Paso: Después de que tu consejero/a verifique cuáles cursos te gustaría tomar, ellos te enviaran un correo electrónico con el próximo paso. Revisa tu gmail de Snowline para recibir instrucciones en como contactar el centro de registración de Options for Youth por teléfono.

Miami
 
The Miami University Summer Scholars Program is an opportunity for academically talented rising high school juniors and seniors to spend two weeks on Miami's campus exploring a topic of their choice alongside their leading faculty and professional experts. The program offers students an insider's look at the college application process, with structured workshops focused on application essay writing, an introduction to financial aid and scholarships, and sessions developing leadership skills. Participants who choose to apply to Miami will also receive priority consideration for Miami merit scholarships and honors programs.
